Coaching Philosophy

The Cambridge wrestling philosophy focuses on the importance building character and sportsmanship of each individual.  Our emphasis involves the fundamentals that will help each wrestler with physical and mental growth. Our club promotes a safe, positive and friendly atmosphere where those interested in wrestling can learn about the sport. We focus on good sportsmanship, respect for authority and skills needed to achieve success both on and off the mat.  As coaches, we work hard to develop wrestlers into athletes of character, who are both strong teammates and the most successful individuals possible.  We demonstrate a positive attitude and have fun both on and off the mat.

The demands of the sport of wrestling are intense both physically and mentally. Being a wrestler is not for everyone, it takes a special kind of individual. Given those demands, we rely on everyone (coaches, wrestlers, parents, and fans) to support the team. We want the wrestlers to improve in their sport and reach their highest level of competition both on the mat and in life in general. However, it is the person or individual that leaves the mat with the "attitude and qualities of a wrestler" that is our most important goal as coaches.
